Hand Embroidered Family Portraits

In 2022 I wanted to create unique, handmade gifts for family members so I discovered the art of embroidery.
I first drew the portraits out onto wash-away embroidery fabric so I knew exactly where to stitch. For these portraits I used back stitches for the the outlines of the people and then satin stitches for colorful areas such as the fish and tie. I really enjoyed creating these pieces and using a traditional art medium in a contemporary style.
